Workshop on Effective Management of Technology Transfer Office (TTO)

 

A workshop on “Effective Management of Technology Transfer Office (TTO)”, organized by Higher Education Quality Enhancement Program (HEQEP), UGC was held at IICT seminar room, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on December 19-20, 2017. The workshop was arranged to discuss the possible activities and management of the Technology Transfer Offices in different universities of Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Mohammad Arif Hasan Mamun, the SPM of BUET TTO, Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, the SPM of Dhaka University TTO, Sub Project Management team from BUET TTO and DU TTO, members of IP steering Committee of BUET along with distinguished faculties and researchers from both Universities were present in the interactive two day long workshop.

Dr. Aravind Chinchure, International Expert (IP & Innovation) of HEQEP was the resource person of the workshop. He is a Ph. D. in Physics with 25 years of experience in R&D, innovation, intellectual property, startup venture investment, policy and teaching. He discussed the detailed objectives and operations of the TTO office, importance of finalizing the IP policy for both university and the next steps that both TTO should follow. The SPMT of BUET TTO and DU TTO discussed their problems regarding operation of the TTO offices and Dr. Chinchure gave them probable solutions.

Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, project director of HEQEP and additional secretary to the Government of Bangladesh also attended the workshop to encourage such type of TTO workshops in Bangladesh. The workshop was very effective and successful as it created more awareness among the faculties and encouraged them to protect their intellectual properties and transfer them for the greater welfare of the society.
